Use a gallery wall template to test frame outlines and spacing before drilling. The free tool below helps plan the arrangement; the actual frames determine the final hanging points.
Two layouts to copy
Six-frame grid: use six frames with equal outer dimensions in three columns and two rows. With 30 × 40 cm frames and 5 cm gaps, the group is 100 × 85 cm.
Three-frame row: use three equal 40 × 50 cm frames with 6 cm gaps. The group is 132 cm wide and 50 cm high. These are illustrative layouts, not required proportions for every wall.
Make full-size paper templates
- Measure each frame’s outside width and height.
- Cut paper to those dimensions and label the artwork.
- Arrange the papers using low-tack tape suitable for the finish.
- Check the composition from normal viewing positions.
- Measure the frame’s actual hanger offset and mark it on its template.
Before fitting hardware
Check level, gaps, wall construction and concealed cables or pipes. Use fixings rated for the frame and substrate. If printing any template, verify a known dimension with a ruler; a printer’s “fit to page” setting can change scale.
Save a photograph and the final measurements. That makes a replacement frame or later addition easier without relying on memory.
Print at 100%. These are proportional planning diagrams, not full-size drilling templates. Replace each rectangle with a paper outline matching your real frame, including its hanging-point offset.
Print op 100%. Dit zijn verhoudingsschema's, geen boormallen op ware grootte. Vervang ieder vlak door een papieren omtrek van de echte lijst, inclusief de afstand tot het ophangpunt.
1. Balanced grid
Keep gaps equal. Houd tussenruimtes gelijk.
2. Center anchor
Set the center first. Begin met het midden.
3. Organic edge
Keep a defined outside boundary. Bewaak één buitenrand.
